ATLANTA, Ga – Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund (TPPCF) Chairman Jenny Beth Martin today released the following statement, announcing that the Super PAC associated with the nation’s largest Tea Party group has endorsed Mary Thomas for the GOP nomination in the seat representing Florida’s 2nd congressional district.
“Mary Thomas – a first generation American, attorney, and mother – is a strong constitutional conservative, determined to make her mark on behalf of her constituents and the values we share.
“Mary understands that as government grows larger, our zones of individual liberty shrink accordingly; as government’s size and scope become bigger, our ability to control our own lives grows smaller. Consequently, she has made clear her belief in limited government and individual liberty; the need to reform the tax code to lower rates even as we make the code flatter, fairer, and simpler, so that we can create good new jobs even as we leave more money in taxpayers’ wallets; the need to reduce government spending and shrink the national debt, so we don’t continue to steal from future generations; and the need to repeal Obamacare, so we put patients and doctors back in charge of healthcare decisions.
“Even before winning election – she’s never held office before – she was showing her courage: She opposed John Boehner as Speaker before he resigned in October 2015. That kind of courage will help her fight for her constituents in a GOP Conference that is still too prone to doing the Leadership’s bidding.
“On behalf of Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund, I am pleased to endorse Mary Thomas for the GOP nomination in the seat representing Florida’s 2nd congressional district, and I urge all voters in the district to vote for her in the August 30 primary and the November general election.”
